KNGJDC – World Mental Health Awareness Day
On the occasion of World Mental Health Awareness Day, the NSS Seva Samarpan Units, Police Marshalls of KNGJDC organized a Mental Health Awareness Campaign across multiple locations in Bengaluru, including Cubbon Park, MG Road Metro Station, Near KFC, Indiranagar, and Indiranagar 9th Cross.
The awareness program began at 7:30 a.m. and continued till 1:30 p.m., spreading a strong message on the importance of mental well-being among the public. A team of 12 enthusiastic NSS students, along with Assistant Professor Tejashwini Patil, Ms. Asha, PSI (Cubbon Park), and PSI Chandrashekar (Indiranagar), actively participated in the event.
The highlight of the campaign was a mime performance titled “Level Up in Life”, through which students creatively portrayed the growing issue of mobile phone addiction among youth and its negative impact on mental health. The performance emphasized that mental health should be treated with the same seriousness as physical health. Just as one consults a doctor for physical ailments, it is equally important to seek help, consult professionals, and openly discuss mental health concerns to break the stigma surrounding them.
The street performances drew large crowds at every location, with many passersby stopping to watch and engage in discussions about mental health. The impactful act and meaningful message left a lasting impression on the audience, successfully raising awareness about emotional well-being and responsible digital usage.
This impactful initiative was conceptualized and led under the guidance of Dr. Ragitha Rajendran, Principal, KNGJDC by Asst Prof Tejashwini Patil, Coordinator- NSS Seva Samarpan Unit, with the support of the NSS student leaders, Raksitha (President), James Lobo (Secretary), and Rahul Singh (Treasurer) — whose dedication ensured the success of the awareness drive.
